Vice President Namadi Sambo and some state governors today arrived in Kaduna ahead of the turbaning on Saturday by the Zazzau Emirate Council in Zaria, of State Governor Mukhtar Yero. `
A credible source who arrived in Kaduna from Abuja told SaharaReporters that Governor Yero will be turbaned as Dallatun Zazzau, by the Emir of Zaria, Alhaji Shehu Idris.
The source said that millions of Naira have been expended on preparations for the ceremony, with much more ahead to be spent, despite the government’s complaints of lack of funds to carry out development projects that will improve the lives of its citizens.
The source said that all the major hotels in Kaduna and Zaria have been booked and filled with guests and other personalities. Several more will be arriving on Saturday morning.
Posters, T-shirts and souvenirs are said to have been produced in the thousands, while a convoy of assorted cars will convey guests and associates of the governor and Vice President Sambo, who is Yero’s political godfather.
SaharaReporters gathered that Kaduna Deputy Governor Nuhu Bajoga received Sambo at the airport this evening instead of his principal, Yero, who is already in Zaria.
As Dallatun Zazzau, Yero will be replacing Alhaji Mohammed Hayatudeen, who died in December 2013.
Some observers say the acquisition of the title by the governor has political undertones, aimed at boosting his 2015 gubernatorial chances in the state, but others claim it has no any political significance whatsoever.
