commenced on May 30, a day after President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn
in.
The
spokesperson for the Kano Police Command, Magaji Majiya, told reporters
that the teenage bomber detonated the explosive at 9:30 p.m Monday
after she was prevented from accessing the Umar Bin Khatab mosque along
Zaria Road.
The incident happened just as faithful were dispersing after observing the late night (Tarawih) prayer, witnesses said.
“She was trying to cross over to
the mosque, but she was stopped,” Mr. Majiya said. “She immediately
detonated the bomb and died immediately.”
