Abike Dabiri-Erewa, former chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs on Friday disclosed that she is not surprised that President Muhammadu Buhari rejected the offer of 400m naira official cars.
Media reports on Thursday said President Muhammadu Buhari turned down proposal to purchase five new armored Mercedes Benz S-600 (V222) cars for his use.
The cars which total cost is put at about N400m were planned to be purchased by the State House.
Abike Dabiri- Erewa on her official twitter handle @abikedabiri said
“Not surprised PMB rejected 400m naira official cars Typical of him
.Leadership by example. Zero tolerance for corruption. More to come”
“Oh Yes The clear message is also No to wasteful spending in the PMB administration.”
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity,
Mallam Garba Shehu, said that Buhari had withheld approval for the
purchase of the new cars.
Shehu said the President would continue to use the cars left behind
by Jonathan in keeping with his commitment to prudent management of
national resources.
The proposal to procure the new cars was first made to Jonathan
before he left office but directed that it be represented to Buhari on
his assumption of office.
