Coach of the U-23 national team, Samson Siasia, and the Head Coach of
the Super Falcons, Chris Danjuma, have selected players for their
respective team.
A statement in the website of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)
on Thursday said that Siasia selected 20 players for the African U-23
championship qualifier against Congo in Pointe Noire on Sunday.
It added that Danjuma picked 18 players for the big match against
Equatorial Guinea’s Senior Women national team in Bata, Equatorial
Guinea also on Sunday.
The statement quoted Siasia as saying that all the selected players for the U-23 team were good enough to make the trip.
“But it is impossible for everyone to make it to Congo,’’ the website quoted Siasia as saying.
Siasia, the statement added, charged players left out to continue to
work on their game and pray for the success of the team in the big
match.
“The team’s focus is to go to Congo and make the nation proud.
“For those of you selected, this is a golden opportunity for you to
show to Nigerians and the world that your first leg victory is not a
flash in the pan.
“And as such you must fight hard when we get to Pointe Noire and beat the Congolese,’’ said Siasia.
