Ayiri Urges Buhari To Probe 22 Nigerians Named As Avengers’ Sponsors

The federal government has been urged to probe the 22 Nigerians listed by

a faction of Niger Delta Avengers, the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers
(RNDA) as sponsors of the renewed militancy in the region.

A prominent activist and Itsekiri chief, Ayiri Emami, urged the President
Muhammadu Buhari not to take the revelation lightly, but should dig into
it with a view to exposing the alleged sponsors, members and sympathizers
of the rampaging militant group.

Emami who is a stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in
Delta state, said the revelation has strongly backed his stance that
corrupt politicians were behind the nefarious activities of the group.

In a statement made available to Pointblanknews.com in Warri, he said:
“The revelation by the splinter group of Niger Delta Avengers about the
sponsors of Niger Delta Avengers has vindicated my earlier position that
some corrupt politicians running away from justice are the brains behind
the criminal group.

“Nigerians should not take the report with a pinch of salt and President
Muhammadu Buhari should ensure that the fresh revelation is properly
investigated with a view to bringing all those behind the economic and
political sabotage to book.

“I say so emphatically because these failed and corrupt politicians are
determined to bring down the economy of Nigeria and rubbish the President
Buhari’s administration before gullible Nigerians’’.

He advised the federal government not to allow any of them escape the long
arms of justice by negotiating their ways out of the messy allegations.

However, former President Goodluck Jonathan named as the grand patron of
the Niger Delta Avengers has denied the allegation even as the likes of
Godswill Akpabio, Tompolo, Nyesome Wike, Raymond Dokpesi, among others
have been named in the list.
