Adeleke Family Replies Gov Aregbesola Over Comment On Deji Adeleke

AREGBESOLA UNSTATEMANLY OUTBURSTS
Our attention has been drawn to statements credited to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the governor of Osun State, at the campaign of his party (APC) held at Oba Laoye Grammar School, Ede on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, to the effect, that he unstatemanly derided Dr. Deji Adeleke and the painful sudden death of indomitable and lovable Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, should have realized, that to all human beings, death is inevitable, and that in Yoruba custom, no one talks ill of the dead. It is therefore shocking and inhuman, that Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola was literally dancing on the grave of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, his senior in political arrangement of Nigeria by all description. This same scenario he played out at his infamous Ogbeni till day break programme only few days after the death and burial of Senator Isiaka Adeleke. Resurfacing a programme he has rested for three (3) years.
What’s more appalling, is Aregbesola outburst, as widely quoted in major newspapers, that Senator Isiaka Adeleke sudden death “has affected the psyche” of Dr. Dejji Adeleke. How one wants to ask? If Aregbesola has a giant, a towering personality and eminent person like late Senator Isiaka Adelek in his family, and he lost such distinguished personality to the cold hands of death, will he take to the streets and dance merrily? Dr. Deji Adeleke, since the demise of his loving brother of blessed memory, along with other members of the family, have been peacefully mourning him and conducting themselves in the best of human behaviour, receiving the low and mighty who came to symphatise.
Why should Ogbeni Aregbesola carry politics to this ridiculous end and acting like a tin god, who will never leave the office as governor and this transient world as a human being. To those of us living, inclusive of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, we don’t know how we will end it up. Senator Isiaka Adeleke died gloriously. The whole world celebrated his death and the universe stands still over his transition.
What is the sin of the Adeleke family in putting one of their own forward to contest the July 8 Osun West Senatorial By-Election, if that is what is giving Ogbeni Aregbesola some concern.
The Adeleke family has come a long way in the socio-economic and political history of Nigeria without any taint or blemish. It produced late Senator Isiaka Adeleke as a governor in 1992, at age of 34, when today so called “political champion” are not heard of or known.
Let Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola know, that in today’s Nigeria, Dr ’Deji Adeleke is enjoying respect and dignity from those who matter for more than four decades. He had come a long way to be where he is and he trudges on.
If Aregbesola is talking of a contentious Certificate of Occupancy, is he the one that provided the billions of naira that put Adeleke University up as “Harvard” of Nigeria? Political envy should not be carried to this unenviable extent, Mr. Aregbesola!
