Ogun Assembly Member, Hon. Nurudeen Aina Implicated In Gunshot Palaver That Killed PDP Member In Ota

On Wednesday, July 5^th, at about 8pm in the evening, a Peoples Democratic Party member and supporter of House of Representatives member, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, Mutiu Agbaje was shot dead at Okede area of Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota local government of Ogun State.

From available reports, Hon Adebutu who is a frontline aspirant for the 2019 governorship seat of Ogun State in 2019 was on his way from where he had attended the Ogun West senatorial meeting of the PDP in Aiyetoro and decided to make a brief stopover at Ota to meet with about 20 members of the party. The meeting was to hold at Okede, the center of Ota town.

We learnt that when the PDP members were waiting for Hon Adebutu, information flew around the town that Adebutu, who is popularly called ‘omo baba Ijebu’ would soon get to Okede.

‘’Different hoodlums and area boys began to converge around the vicinity. So many strange faces and boys were just hanging around. Some of them were smoking marijuana and gulping different kinds of alcoholic concoctions.’’ Our source stated.

An eagle eyed observer however revealed that the incumbent House of Assembly member representing Ota State constituency of the ruling All Progress Congress party, Hon Nurudeen Aina Akinpelu was als sighted with some hoodlums among whom is one Kola, said to be the personal assistant of Hon Rotimi Ramon (a.k.a  Arugbo), the Chairman Ogun State Local Government Commission and one of the closest aide of Gov. Ibikunle Amosun.

‘’You see, Hon Nuru Aina’s wife has a shop at Okede. That was where they were all seated. All these boys had been gathered there since afternoon, smoking and drinking till evening that Hon Adebutu’s convoy showed up’’, the source added.

We gathered that Adebutu got to Okede at about 8pm that Wednesday night and on sighting his car, the hoodlums and area boys pounced on his vehicle.

‘’The place became very rowdy and uncontrollable as all the hoodlums began to struggle to get close to Adebutu’s vehicle, demanding that he (Adebutu) gives them money. It was so chaotic that Adebutu couldn’t get out of his car. His security details had to tell the driver to zoom off. It was while his vehicle moved that the gunshot was heard and everybody scampered to safety.’’ The source explained.

The source further revealed to us that the shot that hit Mutiu Agbaje and eventually led to his death was from the direction where Hon Nuru Aina and his hoodlum were sitting.

‘’The gun shot came from Hon Aina’s direction. Though I can’t say categorically who fired the shot, but I know it came from where Nuru and his boys were sitting’’. The source injected.

We were told that after Hon Adebutu’s convoy escaped from the scene, Hon Aina quickly picked his phone and placed a call to Gov. Ibikunle Amosun, alleging that Hon Ladi Adebutu’s security detail fired the shot that killed Mutiu Agbaje who was also a PDP member.

Gov Amosun thereafter reportedly ordered Hon. Aina to get in touch with the Ado-odo/ota local government Chairman, Hon. Dele Adeniji tomake an official report at the police Area Command in Sango Ota.

At the police Area  Command  office, Hon.  Nuru  Aina  was said to have given the name of his known political enemies as suspects. That same night, we learnt heavily armed policemen from the Area Commander's  office  began to invade the residences of known and prominent PDP members and began to arrest them. Among those who were arrested was a popular land merchant  known as Shagara, said to be a die-hard  Ladi Adebutu  loyalist. As as the time of filing this report, about eight top PDP loyalists have been arrested.

However, some All Progressive Congress top shots in Ota are whispering that Hon. Nuru Aina boys masterminded the attack of Hon. Ladi Adebutu in order to scare him away from the town.

“Hon. Aina is deliberately using the government machinery in the State to turn the attack to PDP affair. That is why he is picking up PDP Stalwarts in the town. But I think the police should investigate him.

''The person that died is a PDP member,  and  Nuru  Aina  is going about arresting PDP supporters as suspected killers. The family of the deceased want to go and bury the dead, but  Nuru  does not want the body be released. The police should investigate very well,  and they will find that Nuru is hiding behind the cloak of the government.  

''There  is possibilities  he masterminded the attack on Hon. Adebutu and his supporters. You know Hon. Nuru has been saying that he wants to contest has the next governor of the State, so he is showing Gov. Amosun  that he is on ground, but by picking up  innocent PDP members won’t get him anywhere.''
