Bola Shagaya’s Bank Accounts Frozen

Three bank accounts belonging to Ex-First Lady, Patience Jonathan’s friend, and billionaire businesswoman Hajia Bola Shagaya, and holding a total of N8.6b have been frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
EFCC had entered a no debit status on the three accounts with Unity Bank without proper court order.
The anti-graft agency are also said to be investigating Shagaya’s relationship with about 10 firms/account names.
A bosom friend of the immediate past first lady. It is believed Shagaya was involved in several underhand financial deals with the Jonathans while they were in government.
However, she is contesting the action of the anti-graft agency and has dragged Unity Bank before the court for allowing EFCC to place a No Debit Status on her accounts saying the action violated Section34 (1) of the EFCC Act, 2004.
Hearing of the matter is slated for September 28.
