Ekiti State Governorship election scheduled for 2018 has pitted one-time allies, the state governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose and his former deputy, Senator Biodun Olujimi against each other.
Years past they had openly supported each other’s political aspirations.
But the race for Fayose’s successor in 2018, which Senator Olujimi is in, has severed their yummy relationship, and now they are at daggers drawn in a cold war.
The cause of their fight was Fayose’s refusal to support Senator Olujimi’s candidacy and back her to succeed him.
Their fight became evident on Thursday when the state House of Assembly believed to be acting Fayose’s script accused her and two lawmakers, allegedly loyal to her, of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
The Assembly claimed at a press conference that the two lawmakers, Michael Adedeji, representing Ekiti South West Constituency II and Adeojo Fajana, representing Ekiti East Constituency 1, and Senator Olujimi, connived to divert community benefits to personal use in her attempt to compromise the lawmakers.
The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Dr. Samuel Omotoso, who made this allegation also hit out at Senator Olujimi and brought into the open her fight with Fayose,
Omotoso said, “Fayose is responsible for any political success recorded by Olujimi. From Special Assistant, he nominated her to be in the House of Representatives and later made her a deputy governor. When the governor returned, he nominated her for the Senate where she is now. If logic is to prevail, if she’s going to get anything again, it will be through the same way.”
