#EndSARS: Oba Akiolu Returns To Palace

Rilwanu
Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, has returned to his palace at Iga Iduganran on Lagos Island two months after being attacked by hoodlums.

Recall that on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, some hoodlums who had hijacked the #EndSARS protests invaded the palace, and looted it.

While the monarch vacated the palace amid the attack, the hoodlums made away with his crown and staff of office.

Men of the Nigerian military were reported to have ferried Akiolu into safety and ever since he had been absent from the palace.

But in a video shared by the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Health, Oreoluwa Finnih, Akiolu was seen wearing a mask and dancing towards the palace with his entourage.

“Our daddy is back home… Oba of Lagos, HRM, Alayeluwa Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu’s triumphant entry to Iga Idunganran Palace, today, Friday, January 1, 2021,” Finnih’s tweet read.

Lagos Island Local Government where the Oba’s palace is situated was one of the hotspots of the protests.

Apart from the palace that was plundered by the hoodlums for two days, the hoodlums also burnt the family home of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the state and some police stations in the area.
