ILALI FAMILY PROTESTS OVER IMPOSITION OF ALADE EGBEDE AS BAALE OF ILALI LAND BY OBA AKINDE, THE OLOJA EKUN OF IGBESA, OGUN STATE

The families of Ilali in Igbesa, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Govt, Ogun State have called on the government of Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun State Governor to help them prevail on the newly installed Oloja Ekun of Igbesa, Oba Azeez Akinde to desist from his plan to install a stranger as the Baale of their land.

The family members comprises women, men, young and old were seeing on Tuesday March 1st, 2022 at Igbesa carrying placards with different inscriptions and singing appealing songs. They alleged that the traditional ruler has promised to carry out his plan and nobody not even the State governor can ask him to rescind his decision.

In their words, the spokesman of the family, Alh. Balogun said the said “Alade Egbede is an Igede man, from Benue State. His father was one of our fathers’ labourers that always helped them clear the land. We are surprised now that he is claiming to be one of our family members”, we don’t know him, he added.

An Elderly man who spoke to us on the matter also lamented bitterly, he said when they heard of such plan by Oba Akinde, they visited Kabiyesi and equally ask their lawyer to write him. A copy of the letter was delivered to the Nigeria Police, State DSS and other appropriate agencies.  He went further that Kabiyesi’s reply to them is Alade was the only man that stood behind him during the Obaship tussle and the only thing he can do to appreciate him is to install him as a Baale on any land he chooses as a King.

The family is appealing to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Hon Commissioner for Local Govt and Chieftaincy affairs, Olota of Ota and the entire Awori Obas to call Oba Akinde to order so that the issue will not lead to crisis that will disrupt the relative peace that Igbesa people have been enjoying before the ascension of Oba Akinde.  

“Igbesa have been enjoying relative peace before the ascension of Oba Akinde as the Oloja Ekun of Igbesa, we don’t want anything to happen to this peace, this is the reason we are begging the whole world especially our ever peace loving Governor, Dr. Dapo Abiodun, the Awori Obas headed by Olota of Ota, Oba Prof. Adeyemi Obalanlege and the State Security Agencies to prevail on Kabiyesi not to install a stranger as Baale on our father'sland”  They echoed.
